We offer a variety of services to our youth. some of the programs include but are not limited to:
Youth Ministry
We at TYME do not consider what we do a job. It goes deeper than that it is a ministry that touches hearts and people.
Although we are a Christian based organization, we welcome youth of all faiths and beliefs. We use this as a tool to teach youth tolerance and unity amoung the races and various religions. Youth arelcome to worship with us and learn from us as well as teach us. We encourage youth to find a foundation of faith, for it is the bases from which our morals and values come from. You must believe in something or you will fall for anything.
Recreational and Performing Arts
Youth participate in various activities such as bowling, ping-pong, board games, basketball, football, dance, step/cheerleading, singing and acting just to name a few. As well as trips and outings.
W.O.R.D. - Women Of Renewed Destiny
A rite-of-passage-type program for young women and women ages 16-30. They come together to talk and learn from one another about issues only women can face. Such topics include health issues, being a mom, relationships, being a working parent, family planning and breast cancer awareness. There are also hands-on lessons in cooking, sewing general housekeeping and budgeting.
WORD offers job training, preparation and placement searches. Secondly, we reach out to youth from all walks of life and have them come together to learn from, understand and befriend one another. This will help to bridge the racial divide facing our country today. By bringing youth from all over together, it will allow them to get to know one another and begin to break down some of the stereotypes that separate us and cause confusion.
Socialization
Through this program youth learn socialization skills. It is very important young people learn to befriend those who are different from them. Our youth learn to associate with your from different races, religious backgrounds and sexual orientation. Youth with all abilities and Disabilities work together in a safe and inclusive environment to assure a better tomorrow. They are taught that while they may not agree with certain things everyone should be respected and no one should be discriminated against. We all must live in this world together.
Family Supports
We realize we cannot help the youth then send them back to a completely dysfunctional family. Therefore we have extended some services to include the family as a whole. These include family mediation, parenting skills, literacy and educational support, as well as an emergency food pantry and referrals when needed.
Families of Children Disiabilities Supports
We also have a support group for parents or caregivers of children with disabilities. During these support groups we may have speakers come in to educate families or families may be allowed to just talk and fellowship with one another. Youth with disabilities are encouraged to participate in all of our activities such as drama, newsletters, choir, dance, etc.
The Rec hall is available for agencies or families of children with disabilities to allow the children to do such things as Karoke, youth dances birthday parties, or just in enjoy the center. Families should contact us at 814-236-2276 to find out these times and dates as they are scheduled when we have enough Families to participate
The support group meets once a month, providing enough families have RSVP'd.
