The Program began in Elaine's living room with 12 youth from her church and community. The youth were there to just talk or rap. By the end of the session the youth and Elaine were in tears. They talked about their community, families, lives and themselves. They needed a change, they needed hope, and they needed someone to believe in them. It was TYME to make a difference in their lives. They decided to meet once a week and hold rap sessions. Three months later Elaine's living room could no longer hold the 39 children that were now attending. She began looking for space. She found a local church that had out grown their space. The building was empty on Saturdays and in the evening. The church offered her the space as well as an office space but the price was more than she could afford. After hearing of the work Elaine was doing with the youth, the pastor of the church decided to let her have the space for ¼ of what he had offered her, but she could only use the building 2 days a week. All though it still was a stretch financially Elaine knew it was needed and agreed. The youth were very happy. They had one day to use for their rap session and another to just hang out.

Elaine set up programs to meet the needs of the youth. There were Thanksgiving baskets and Christmas gifts given out. We received donations of school supplies, clothing, food and books. The program quickly grew to over 76 youth and each week the youth bring someone else to the program. We begin to receive volunteers and people wanting to mentor the youth as well as the youth themselves wanted to help. Some youth were selected to go though a peer leadership program and peer with youth from similar backgrounds as an ongoing effort of support and friendship.
